Solution
The 2 bowl feeder systems are designed to automatically sort and feed valve bodies and plungers down to the escapements for an assembly robot to work on. The feeding systems comprise bulk hoppers, bowl feeders, linear tracks and side shuttle escapements.
Bulk Storage Hoppers
The hoppers are used to store and transfer component parts into the vibratory bowl feeders.
Vibratory Bowl Feeders
The Valve Body and Plungers are fed through Bowl feeders. The two stepped bowls have a larger feeding track width.
Linear Feeder – Valve Body
A Vibratory linear feeder is fitted with a tooled track approximately 800 mm in length, a high-level sensor to feed the parts into the escapement. The SLL series of RNA linear feeders have adjustable springs without altering the Gap setting.
Linear Feeder – Plunger
A Vibratory linear feeder is fitted with a tooled track approximately 400 mm in length, a high-level sensor to feed the parts into the escapement. The GL series of RNA linear feeders have horizontally fitted springs instead of the traditional vertical arrangement. The smooth and gentle movement provided by this linear means that it is highly recommended when feeding and transferring thin components.
Side Shuttle Escapements
The Valve Body and Plungers are fed through Bowl feeders and Linear tracks down to the pneumatically operated side shuttle escapements where one body and one plunger are presented at a time for the robot to work on and then transferred to the assembly tray.
