Solution
The case study explores the two bowl feeders in an Insert Moulding Cell, designed to automate component part delivery for the insert moulding process.
Bulk Storage Hoppers
The hoppers are used to store and transfer component parts into the vibratory bowl feeder.
Bowl Feeder System – Electrical Contact
The vibratory bowl feeder sorts and feeds the parts, pins down, into a single-file linear outfeed track. At the end of the linear track, a pneumatic escapement separates two electrical contacts for pickup by the load robot. A vision sensor, positioned above the escapement, inspects for bent pins once parts have been picked.
Bowl Feeder System – Metal Insert (Metal moulded part)
The vibratory bowl feeder orients and feeds the inserts, end to end, flat face angled away from bowl at 28.7°, into a single-file linear outfeed track. At the end of the linear track, an electric escapement separates four metal inserts for pickup by the load robot.
To explore how these bowl feeders integrate with the broader system to enhance insert moulding processes, see our Insert Moulding Cell Case Study for more details.
