Linear Feeders

Linear feeders, also known as multi-lane linear systems, transport oriented components from bowl feeders over short or long distances, creating a buffer storage area. They ensure a consistent flow of oriented components from the bowl feeder to escapement devices, allowing for product accumulation before reaching a machine or handling unit.

Linear feeders from RNA enable linear sorting through a dedicated sorting track and can also be used for component orientation. A multi-track design allows for higher output and increased efficiency.

Misoriented components are automatically returned to the prefeeders via a chute and vibration tray. In addition to horizontal conveying, linear feeders can manage irregular part supplies from upstream equipment, creating a buffer and ensuring a smooth, consistent flow for downstream processes.

Available in sizes up to 3 meters in length, RNA linear feeders are designed to suit virtually any application. They feature a multi-magnet design similar to RNA bowl feeder drive units, making them robust, compact, and virtually maintenance-free.

What is a linear feeder?

Linear feeders, also known as multi-lane linear systems, transport oriented components from bowl feeders over short or long distances. In addition to pure conveying tasks, linear feeders also function as buffer and accumulation lines. Even with incomplete or irregular feeding, components can be continuously supplied by the upstream sorting system to the next processing stage.

Linear feeders enable lateral vibration-free sorting (linear sorting lines) and can also be configured as multi-track systems to achieve higher sorting efficiency. Parts that are misoriented or rejected are automatically returned to the preceding feeding system via sorting hoppers activated by the linear feeder.

They also serve as drive units for bulk hoppers, allowing the accumulation of mass-produced parts. Due to their construction, vibratory hoppers powered by linear feeders ensure smooth, gap-free material flow and can handle large filling weights efficiently.

RNA linear feeders deliver high feeding capacities and maintain reliable performance even on long feeding lines or under demanding operating conditions.
