Solution

The bowl feeder system is designed to automatically sort and feed M3 screws. The system includes a bowl feeder, a linear feeder, and at the end of the feed system, an escapement to present the parts for pickup by the load robot.

Vibratory Bowl Feeder

A vibratory sorting bowl is tooled to sort and feed M3 x 8mm screws before transferring them to the linear out-feed.

Linear Feeder

The linear out-feed is fitted with a tooled track approximately 250 mm long. The parts feed single-file onto a vibratory linear track with the head up for transport to the 3-position escapement unit.

Side Shuttle Escapement

The pneumatically operated side shuttle escapement separates and presents two parts at a time. The escapement has three positions so the parts can be picked from alternating sides of the linear track.
